Final Evaluation - Technical support to the Papua New Guinea Forest Authority to implement a continuous and multi-purpose National Forestry Inventory

Climate change and forestry are two closely intertwined and important issues in PNG. By reducing deforestation and promoting forest conservation and sustainable management of its forests, PNG can contribute to addressing the global mitigation gap.

To address the lack of forest monitoring capacity of the country, the European Union (EU) has been supporting PNG Forest Authority (PNGFA) through the project “Technical support to the PNGFA to implement a multipurpose National Forest Inventory” implemented by Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) since 2015. The overall objective of the project is to contribute to the implementation of Papua New Guinea's climate change policies and measures on mitigation through support to the Forest Authority to implement a  continuous and multi-purpose National Forestry Inventory.

Our evaluator expert provides an independent final evaluation of the project, based on the five OECD-DAC evaluation criteria.
